1- Jim Corbett National Park

Jim Corbett National Park is located in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. This is the first national park of India. It was established in 1936. Earlier the name of Jim Corbett National Park was Hailey National Park. In 1956, it was renamed as Jim Corbett National Park after the famous hunter.

Corbett National Park is spread over 520.8 sq.km and here in 1973 Project Tiger was started by the Government of India.

Jim Corbett National Park is famous for Bengal Tiger. Many tourists from India and abroad go here for tiger safari.

2- Govind Pashu Vihar National Park

Govind Animal Vihar National Park is located in Uttarkashi district of Garhwal region in Uttarakhand. This national park was established in 1955 as a wildlife sanctuary and later it was made a national park by the Government of India. This national park has been named after India’s prominent freedom fighter and politician late Shri Govind Ballabh Pant. Govind Animal Vihar National Park was established on 1 March 1955. Major mountain peaks like Swarg Rohini, Bandar Poonch, and Black Pearl come under this. Har Ki Doon Valley also comes under this National Park which is a major tourist destination.

The Tons River flows through the Govind Pashu Vihar National Park. It is spread over 958 km-sq.

The Snow Leopard Project was started by the Government of India from this national park.

In the Govind Animal Vihar National Park, mainly animals like musk deer, snow leopard, Asiatic art bear etc. reside.

3- Gangotri National Park

Gangotri National Park is located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. It is also a famous National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary of Uttarakhand.

It is named after the Gangotri Glacier. Gaumukh, the origin of the river Ganges, is also located in the Gangotri National Park.

Gangotri National Park was established in 1989 and its area is 2390 km-sq.

It is bordered by Tibet in the northeast.

Snow leopard, Asiatic bear, blue deer, musk deer, etc. are mainly found in this national park.

Gangotri National Park remains open for tourists from April to October.

4- Valley of Flowers National Park

Valley of flowers national park is located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. It is also called the Valley of Flowers. The Valley of Flowers was first discovered by British mountaineer Frank Smith in 1931. This national park was established in 1982 and it is spread over 87.50 sq-km. The Pushpavati River flows through the Valley of Flowers.

In the year 2005, UNESCO jointly declared Valley of Flowers National Park and Nanda Devi National Park as World Heritage Site.

Gauri Parvat is the highest peak of this national park.

Various species of flowers are found in the Valley of Flowers, to see which tourists come from abroad.

Snow leopard, bear, red fox, monal bird etc are found in this national park.

5- Nanda Devi National Park

Nanda Devi National Park is located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. It was established in 1982 and its total area is 630.33 sq.km.

Nanda Devi National Park was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988. In 2005, the Valley of Flowers was also merged into Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers National Park.

Nanda Devi mountain (7817 m) is located in this national park. It is the highest mountain in Uttarakhand and the second highest mountain in India.

Here mainly species of animals like Himalayan black bear, leopard, musk deer etc. are found.

6- Rajaji National Park

Rajaji National Park is spread over Dehradun, Haridwar and Pauri districts of Uttarakhand. It was established in 1983 by merging Chilla, Motichur and Rajaji Wildlife Sanctuaries.

This national park is spread over 820 sq.km.

Rajaji National Park is named after C. Rajagopalachari, a famous freedom struggle leader and recipient of Bharat Ratna , India’s highest civilian award .

Rajaji National Park was declared a Tiger Reserve by the Government of India in 2015.

Asian Elephant, Bengal Tiger, Indian Leopard, Deer etc. are the main animals found in Rajaji National Park.
